In the context of the European Commission ecodesign and energy labelling proposals for space and water
heaters, the European Environmental Bureau and ECOS welcome the proposals and propose a few modifications, namely:
- Increase the energy efficiency requirement in Ecodesign for space heating by 115%, no later than
2027, with no exemptions to be addressed. - Tighten the requirements for ‘stand-alone’ fossil fuel boilers, hybrid units (gas boilers and heat
pumps) and electric heat pumps, in Tier 1 and Tier 2. - Introduce the compensation method as standard measurement for heat pumps.
- Add requirements on material efficiency and repairability.
