Comments following the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling consultation forum on solid fuel boilers

This submission welcomes the long-overdue revision of the ecodesign and energy labelling regulations for solid fuel boilers and highlights the urgent need to address their significant impacts on air quality, public health, climate and the environment. With tens of millions of EU households relying on solid fuels for heating, the contribution stresses the importance of stronger product standards and clear consumer information to reduce pollution, limit climate and biodiversity impacts, and ensure more sustainable use of forest resources.

Position paper on Ecodesign and Energy Labelling requirements for space and water heaters

This position paper welcomes the long-overdue publication of the European Commission’s draft Ecodesign and Energy Labelling regulations for space and water heaters. As Europe accelerates its transition away from gas, these rules are a key lever to drive energy efficiency and scale up clean, cost-effective heating solutions in line with REPowerEU. The Coolproducts campaign sets out targeted recommendations to strengthen the proposals, raise ambition on efficiency standards, and ensure the regulations effectively support the phase-out of fossil heating while delivering cleaner, smarter appliances for consumers.

Zelené teplo pro všechny je proveditelné a pro energetickou spravedlnost nezbytné. Nejnovější zpráva Coolproducts ukazuje, že přesunem pouhé poloviny z ročních dotací na fosilní vytápění ve výši 3,2 miliardy eur vyplácených členskými státy na tepelná čerpadla lze do roku 2040 přejít v Evropě na 100% tepla z obnovitelných zdrojů. Zpráva rovněž analyzovala národní plány v oblasti energetiky a klimatu, aby prozkoumala národní ambice, které nedosahují cílů Fit for 55.
