Since 2010 the European Commission has explored the possibility of regulating the energy and resource efficiency of professional machine tools and welding equipment. These products consume a considerable amount of resources, including energy, shielding gases and wire. Despite work starting nearly eight years ago, the latest proposals discussed at the Ecodesign Consultation Forum in November clearly lacked ambition in our views.
Coolproducts has made proposals on how to improve them and calls on the Commission to finalise the work swiftly.
