Signage displays must be included in Ecodesign – New study

A preliminary study on signage displays was published in September 2017 by the Swiss Ministry of Energy together with Topten.

The signage display market is seeing a double-digit growth annually, yet is not regulated by any European energy efficiency regulations at the moment.

These devices operate 16 to 24 hours a day on average, consuming vast quantities of energy.

The study provides an overview of the signage display market, presents the existing efforts to regulate them and proposes measures for energy efficiency programs.

In July 2017, the Commission committed to launch a preparatory study for this product category.

Coolproducts however would prefer the Commission to take a more ambitious approach by including signage displays in the scope of the current revision of the Regulation on electronic displays.

The study is available in here.
